Hounds Elect new Executive for 2011-12

Medicine Hat, Alberta, May 24, 2011:  The Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds welcomed a new face to the presidency of the club last night.  Frank Devine takes over the position after John MacIntosh held the position for the past year. This will be Devine’s first time heading up the club after serving in the capacity of Director and Treasurer.

Many familiar faces will return to the executive for the coming year.  Brian Rinke retains the Treasurer position while Matt Chabluk and Marcel Wingenbach stay on as Secretary and Registrar respectively.  Two new Directors were elected to the board as Brian Varga takes one of the seats and Larry Godin fills the other vacancy.  John MacIntosh stays with the Executive in the position of Past President.

“I am truly excited about the direction the Hounds have taken over the past couple of years, especially in regards to the working relationship with Medicine Hat Minor Hockey” said MacIntosh.  “The trail was blazed by Brian Varga a couple of years ago and I had the good fortune to work with a terrific template during my time as President.  Looking at the make-up of our Executive for this year I am confident we will continue to stay with our vision of being a National leader in developing Minor Hockey for local communities.”

The Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds were formed in 1970. Over the past 39 years, the club has donated over 2 million dollars to the hockey community and Medicine Hat at large for a variety of causes.  Every year the Hockey Hounds sponsor numerous teams in minor hockey, from Initiation right up to the Junior B Cubs. The Hounds also work hand and hand with Medicine Hat Minor Hockey supporting the leadership training of players, coaches and parents in the Rep Hockey system while distributing $500 athletic scholarships to the four high schools in our area each year.
